Mark Your Calendars! Fifth Season of “Nashville” Returns to CMT on January 5

For all you #Nashies waiting to find out the fate of Juliette Barnes on the popular television show Nashville—your wait is over.  On January 5, 2017 Nashville returns for a fifth season with a special two-hour premiere on CMT.

In May, when ABC unexpectedly announced the show would be cancelled after the Season 4 finale, fans began a petition to bring the show back. Enter CMT who picked up the show for it’s fifth season and saved the beloved drama. Rumor had it that the show would return in Dec., but the network has officially put those rumors to rest by announcing Jan. 5 as the return date— so mark your calendars.

When we last left Nashville in season four, Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panetierre) was in an airplane that went missing, leaving fans wondering if she would die in a plane crash while her love interest Avery Barkley (Jonathon Jackson) awaited her arrival at the airport. We will no longer have to wonder when season five returns. Tune in to CMT on Jan. 5, 9pm ET to see how it all plays out.

Don’t worry if you miss an episode, CMT has partnered with Hulu to make new episodes of Nashville available the day after they air.

Billy Ray Cyrus in Still The King

Along with Nashville, CMT is announcing more original scripted shows ready to make their mark.  Billy Ray Cyrus’ Still The King is returning for a 13 episode second season in the spring of 2017, after a promising first season. Million Dollar Quartet (working title) —set in Memphis during the tumultuous early days of the civil rights movement, the eight part limited-run series tells the untold true story of nothing less than the birth of rock ‘n’ roll — will premiere in March 2017.  And His Wives & Daughters —a comedic series that centers on the eclectic and cunning wives and daughters of larger-than-life country music legend (and infamous womanizer) Eddie Ray Banks—will begin production in the fall.

Get those DVRs ready to check out CMT’s new lineup of shows beginning in Jan 2017. For more information and schedules check out cmt.com.
